Miquel Muñiz Galdón

Born in Riudarenes, Spain, in 2001. Since 2023, he studies at the Reina Sofía School of Music’s Telefónica Violin Chair with professor Marco Rizzi. He has been granted a scholarship by Fundación Albéniz.

He started his violin studies at the Adrià Sardó School in Calonge, Gerona, with Sergi Alpiste, Mercè Paradeda and Sara Pérez. In 2017, he received a scholarship by Fundación Ferrer-Salat to study a Degree at the Liceu Music Conservatory in Barcelona with professor Corrado Bolsi, and graduated in June 2021. Later, he furthered his training with a Master’s Degree at the Haute École de Musique in Lausanne holding a scholarship by Fundación “la Caixa” with professor Svetlana Makarova.

He has attended masterclasses by Pavel Vernikov, Yoyo Ma, Salvatore Accardo, Maurizio Sciarretta, Mihaela Martin, Sergey Ostrovsky, Kirill Troussov, Renaud Capuçon, Patrice Fontanarosa, Suzanne Gessner, Alba Roca, and Miriam Fried, among others. Additionally, from 2017 to 2020 he has been granted a scholarship by Fundación AIE to take further training courses at the Santa Cecilia Academy in Bergamo with Pavel Vernikov and Svetlana Makarova.

He has been awarded in many national and international competitions, winning first prize in competitions such as the 2024 Sociedad de Conciertos de Alicante-Oftalvist National Performing Competition, Gran Premi Musical Lauredià in 2023, ImpulsACIMC Award in 2022, Youth Music of Spain Competition in 2020 and Barcelona Violin Competition in 2019. He also won the silver medal at El Primer Palau 2020 and, in the chamber music category, the first prize at the Ceren Necipoğlu International Chamber Music Competition together with the Trío Granados (Istanbul, 2020).

He has performed at the Palau de la Musica in Barcelona, the Cemal Resit Rey Auditorium in Istanbul, the Berlin Philharmonic Chamber Music Hall, the Paderewski Hall in Lausanne, and in several music festivals Germany, Andorra, Austria, Arab Emirates, United States, Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Switzerland, and Turkey.

As a student of the School, he has performed with the Freixenet Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Péter Csaba, and with the Fundación EDP Camerata, conducted by Paul Goodwin. He is currently part of the Fundación Mahou San Miguel Trio and the Dvořák Quartet.
