Seonhye Song

Seonhye Song

Born in Ulsan, South Korea, in 1994. Since 2023, she studies at the Reina Sofía School of Music’s Telefónica Violin Chair with professor Christoph Poppen. She has been granted a scholarship by Fundación Albéniz.

She graduated from the Seoul National University and in 2023 received her Master's Degree from the Hochschule für Musik und Theatre Hamburg with Professor Sebastian Schmidt. Additionally, she has attended masterclasses by Miriam Fried.

She was laureate at the Anton Rubinstein International Competition, the Kukmin-Ilbo, the Musik Journal chamber music competition and the Classical Music Magazine.

In 2022 she performed as a soloist in the Concert for Korean Reunification, organised by the Korean Association in Leipzig and the Embassy of the Republic.

As a chamber musician, she has taken part in the Kumho Young Chamber Concert Series, and in its orchestral side, she performed as a soloist with the Heidelberg TonArt Symphony Orchestra and the Prokov and Busan Philharmonic Orchestras. Additionally, she has been hired by the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra.

She has been granted a scholarship by the Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Foundation Now.

As a student of the School, she has performed with the Freixenet Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Péter Csaba and she is currently part of the Mendelssohn Quartet.
